Tour de South America-Pre-post

Welcome back! Today’s post will cater a little more to the Travel Section of Breakfast-with-Bormann.  So if travel is not your thing, you can tune out...

Little update, I recently took on a new position at work and will be traveling down to South America a lot more.  So far, the furthest south I’ve been has been Nicaragua; so I’m really looking forward to making these trips from now on.  I'm always game for a new adventure.

I’ll be making my first trip down there this week.  We’re doing 6 countries in 15 days!
·         Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
·         Buenos Aires, Argentina
·         Santa Cruz, Bolivia
·         Lima, Peru
·         Quito, Ecuador
·         Bogota, Colombia

We’re literally making a loop around the continent (hence the title of this post...).  This trip will be a little more challenging packing wise than what I have been used to.  Typically, I could pack for 3 or 4 days and not have to worry about packing light because I wouldn’t have to wear things twice, allowing for more room in the bag.  Well, this trip has been a little different… I’ve made a couple of new purchases just for this trip.  We’ll not have many opportunities to wash clothes while we’re travelling around, making it tricky to look fresh at all of our business meetings.

I started searching for some new items to help me on this trip a couple of weeks back and stumbled upon this product…

They’re a pant called Bluffworks.  They have a pretty neat story...

The pants were funded through a Kickstarter Campaign out of New York City (You can see their video below).  Essentially, they’re a travel friendly slack.  I bought them in three different colors (Brown, Grey, and Charcoal).  The main feature that makes these pants great is they’re basically impossible to wrinkle! (Or at least so far)  I’ve had them for about a week and wore them all week without washing as a pre-test for the trip.  The real test will come when I’ll try them in 2 weeks of travelling while sitting through various business meetings.

Along with their wrinkle free design, they also have a couple of hidden features.  My favorite is the double side pocket that is closed off by a zipper.  This feature is GREAT for travelling! I can keep both my Passport and wallet in here and not have to worry about any pickpockets.  Also, they have a hidden key loop in the pocket that allows for you to clip your keys in.  I’m super stoked about these pants.  Really looking forward to putting them through their paces.  I’ll give you guys the verdict on the follow-up post from the trip.  On side note, it also always great to support budding entrepreneurs!

I also picked a new pair of kicks just for this trip.  They’re from Cole Haan.

I recently stumbled upon them.   These are a Frankenstein of a shoe if I’ve ever seen one! They’re your typical Cole Haan on the top, but have a Nike Lunarground sole.. They’re great because you can pull them off with slacks AND.. they’re comfortable! Kind of business on the top, party on the bottom.. Nothing much left to say on these besides they’re pretty awesome though.  They should be a great versatile shoe for the trip.

Outside of these recent purchases, I also learned a couple of new packing tricks.  Check out this video below…

Who ever knew?! Here’s some photos of my attempt to duplicate the same thing.  I’ll keep you guys posted on the outcome when I get back.  Hopefully it works because this is my only option.

My wife and I also went on a rubber band frenzy and rolled everything in my suite case.  I think this trick is pretty common knowledge, but this is my first time to try it out.
So that’s it for now.  I’ll keep you guys posted on trip when I land back in the States.  Expect that post to be about 3 to 4 weeks from now.
